Learning methods:
This course has theory delivered in the classroom, distance self directed learning and practice. Practical work Activities requiring learners to locate and aquire Digital Signals that are used for the reception of Soarview. Learners will climb ladders, bolt bracketry to walls etc.
We make all learners demonstrate they can actually do the job on real buildings, in real houses with real equipment. The following are examples of Practical activities that take place:
- Making connections and using the right connectors - safely.
- Taking measurements using the appropriate test equipment.
- Recording the measurements on sample documents for assessments.
- Using and placing coaxial cable correctly.
- Installing Bracketry and lashing kits for securing Aerials. Up ladders on roofs in a real life situation.
- Installing the necessary antenna to provide useable DTT signals to the TV receiving equipment.
- Domestic distribution systems & multipoint connections.
Who is this Course designed for:
This course is for those who want to be able to do the job properly and gain a credible recognised qualification. Our training requires you to to be able to do the job. Get up onto a roof, climb up ladders. Build antennas for digital Soarview reception, erect them and acquire the best quality signals
By holding this City & Guilds qualification you are providing evidence of expertise that is asked for when installation companies make tender application.
Why should you take this course:
Some training providers provide mainly classroom based theory that can not possibly give a learner the practice and skill to do this kind of work
And that really is what the difference between us and all other training providers. Our learners are taken to install aerials and satellite equipment for real in buildings. They have to demonstrate they can do the work or they do not pass the course. Below are photo's of learners practicing the installation of lashing brackets up on a roof on a real chimney stack.

The trainer of this course really knows what is required for you to be able to do this job and will get you where you need to be to do it. He has received training on Domestic TV Aerial, Satellite installation and IRS distribution from experts such as the Confederation of Aerial Industries. Installation.
The trainer worked since 1986 installing satellite, aerial, cable, fibre optic, cctv and security systems around the world. After up-skilling at University on Training and continuing education, digital communication, reception and design. Has focused his expertise on training and development of technicians.
Course Duration:
We want you to leave us being able to do the job, We have made this achievable over a short period of time by making some theory elements to be studied by the learner before attendance at our City & Guilds training centre.
This enables us to focus on more practical activities when you are with us, getting you to do the job and use the equipment rather than talking about it.
This is a unique opportunity to complete this Intensive single subject course in 3 Days.
Location:
This course is planned to be delivered in three locationsTheory will be delivered in Dublin, But Practical training will take place in Carlow. Both Theory and Practical are completed in Carlow and Newmarket Co Cork Directions and maps are provided with course joining instructions.
Certificate and Grading
On successful completion of the programme and assessment:
a learner will earn the City & Guilds 2218 Level 2 Certificate in Digital Television Aerial Installation. An award that has been aligned on the National framework of qualifications in Ireland.
Coming Soon?
When this Course was developed, we became aware that subject areas needed to be broadened to take into consideration the work and issues related to the digital switch over.
As such the following more detailed subject courses are being prepared which are designed to separately aid existing Aerial Riggers and those who are looking to add aerial installation to their business or to become self employed.
MATV/SMATV Design and Installation "This is a detailed course based around the installation of Distribution systems" for Hotels, Hospitals, Council offices, apartments. With and important element as to what the business opportunities there will be when the Digital Switch over starts to take place
Fibre Optic MATV/SMATV Installation. "Fibre optic cables are now being used to connect satellite distribution systems". This course also incorporates fibre splicing for Satellite Installers and is aimed at existing Aerial and Satellite Riggers.
